JoJo’s World: WDW Dolphin Stay

JoJo Crichton checks into the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel for a sponsored stay. As he arrives, he’s confused by the stylized images of the dolphins adorning the hotel. He comments, “They kind of look like fish, but hey, you know, I didn’t make this place.”

In the lobby, JoJo’s girlfriend Krista is waiting for him. While she finishes the snack she’s eating, JoJo checks out the resort lobby quick service restaurant, Fuel. He lists off the things they sell there that are most meaningful to him: coffee, wine, champagne, and sweets. He’s uneasy about finding sweets, saying, “I have such a bad sweet tooth. I literally have way too many cavities.”

JoJo sees a window display advertising that people can have their weddings at the Swan & Dolphin resorts. He says they do a lot of weddings there. Knowing that Krista works as a wedding planner, he asks her if it’s a good place and if she recommends it for weddings. She confirms that “it’s a fantastic place to get married.”

Next, JoJo shows the pools and hot tubs at the resort, but he says the first thing he wants to do is ride the Swan Boats. Krista is in agreement, saying, “I’m so excited, I’ve wanted to do this my entire life.” When they get to the boats, JoJo is confused, saying “Wait, how does this work? Do we drive or you just paddle?” He figures it out and once they start pedaling, he comments, “One would say we’re moving and grooving.” However, they find themselves traveling against the wind, and JoJo says about the paddling, “I ain’t going to lie though. If we were out here for more than 20 minutes, I’d probably get tired.” They return to the dock, but JoJo expresses he would have stayed out longer if it weren’t so hot.

Back inside at Phins Bar, JoJo gets the specialty cocktail Smoke N’ Roses for Krista. The drink is served in a glass box filled with smoke. Krista likes it, saying “It’s perfect. It’s so, so delicious.” When JoJo goes to taste it, he says from the aroma, “It reminds me of like a fire.” He tastes it and makes a face, and confirms that he didn’t like it. For himself, JoJo chooses the Lovely in Lavender drink.

After the drinks, JoJo and Krista go check out their hotel room. JoJo shows off the room’s features, including its two balconies. He notes the good view of Epcot from the balconies, saying he would be able to see the nightly fireworks displays from there.

JoJo goes back out to the pool area and finds his friends Matt and Farris in the pool. JoJo asks Farris if he would recommend the pool and Farris says “I think this is the best pool on Disney property, and then Coronado Springs is number two.” Having received that ringing endorsement of the Dolphin pool from Farris, JoJo and Krista then move on to check out the Swan side of the resort, looking at its pool, restaurants, and stores.

While at the Swan, JoJo and Krista have an early dinner at Il Mulino, an Italian restaurant. They start with appetizers, including caponata, mussels for JoJo and caprese salad for Krista. They also get bread, wine and a spicy red dipping sauce for the mussels. JoJo notes that a server suggested dipping his bread in the sauce. After tasting it, JoJo comments “This is unfair. How am I supposed to save room for my entree when all I want to do is eat bread and dip it in this sauce now.”

For his entree, JoJo gets the 10-ounce beef tenderloin served with roasted potatoes in a mixed mushroom sauce. JoJo eats all of the tenderloin, past the point of feeling full, because it tastes so good. Krista gets the rigatoni pasta with wild mushrooms, spicy cherry peppers, garlic, and truffle oil. Krista doesn’t like mushrooms, so she eats around them, but she loves the rigatoni. For dessert they get the Tartufo di Pistacchio and the Tartufo Di Nocciola. Krista thinks the dessert is really good, but after trying it, asks, “What’s a tartufo?”

At the end of the meal they are served a limoncello, an Italian lemon liquor. Before drinking it, JoJo says he is so stuffed from dinner, he feels like he’s about to “give birth to a new baby.” Upon tasting the strong drink, JoJo makes one of the worst faces ever, exclaiming “I think this was meant to be a shot!” Nevertheless, JoJo gives the restaurant a high rating of 9.5 out of 10.

After dinner, JoJo and Krista go outside and meet up with their friends Ryan, Jake, Farris and Matt. JoJo still has some of the limoncello and gets them all to try it. Farris enjoys it, exclaiming “Delicious!” Jake also likes it, but Ryan and Matt, not so much.

The group then walks over to Epcot. In the park, they stop for a drink at the Rose & Crown pub, before moving on to listen to live music performed in the Canada pavilion. In World Nature, they discuss the new Moana, Journey of Water. JoJo asks Ryan if he is excited to be going to a cast member preview of it. Ryan replies, “I can’t wait to go and see all the water.”

They end up at Journey Into Imagination With Figment, which JoJo wants to ride so that they have done at least one ride. JoJo notes it’s the most people he has ever ridden with on that ride. He doesn’t mention a previous time riding it with Farris when he was with former girlfriend Mel. Current girlfriend Krista says their group will likely get a ride vehicle to themselves, and JoJo says they always do. Ryan rhetorically states, “I wonder why.” As they move through the attraction, they all sing along and joke, enjoying the experience.

Eager to make it back in time, the group hurries back to the Dolphin resort to watch the Epcot fireworks from JoJo’s room. JoJo recommends taking the boat transportation, instead of walking, if it’s hot out or someone has been drinking. On the room balcony, they take in the fireworks view. During the display, JoJo also observes a rocket launch from Cape Canaveral. “Only in Orlando,” JoJo remarks upon seeing the two aerial events simultaneously. Krista later confirms it was a SpaceX rocket that launched. Seeing an opportunity for content, JoJo states, “I would go to space. I would do a space vlog.”

After the fireworks and the friends leave, JoJo concludes the vlog.
