This vlog is recorded less than 48 hours before JoJo and Jete leave for their trip to Japan, and JoJo says he has done nothing to prepare for it. He’s been busy recording vlogs to post while he’s gone. The vlogs from his trip, he says, won’t be posted until he returns.
One important thing he hasn’t done yet is get his required Covid test. JoJo explains that Japan requires visitors to be fully vaccinated with boosters, or else have a negative test. It can be assumed that JoJo doesn’t have the boosters, since he says he has to get the test. He expresses some worry about the trip being derailed by positive results, although he has no actual reason to think it would positive.
First he goes to lunch with Jete at the restaurant Toasted, near where JoJo lives (he tells Jete he walked there because he forgot he had no gas in the car). He asks Jete if Jete has been as busy and stressed as he has been. Jete in Jete fashion says no, he’s actually pretty cool and relaxed about it.
They sit and JoJo questions Jete’s calmness, reminding him that a bad test result would “destroy our whole lives right now.” Jete replies that once he is in the plane, he’ll be fine. JoJo ominously adds, “we just have to get there first.”
JoJo gets the Fig & Goat sandwich with a side of tomato soup and Jete gets The Big Cheese. JoJo tells Jete (not suggestively) that one-time only, “you can dip your sandwich in my tomato soup” and “it’s going to change your whole experience.”
JoJo asks Jete for a ride to get the Covid test, because of the gas situation. On the ride, it occurs to JoJo that they should get masks, not only for wearing at the test center, but also for use in Japan. They head to Walgreens for masks. There they get a box of blue surgical masks and in the car, JoJo forgets how to wear one and starts to put it on the top of his head. He figures it out, and they both express the belief that they don’t look good wearing masks.
They go to an Urgent Care center for the test, but it only has the non-rapid test and they need results in less than two days. They go to the Orlando airport instead where they know they can get a rapid Covid test. JoJo ponders that viewers will say, “JoJo, Jete! There was an easier way!” JoJo explains, “We’re acting out of impulse. It’s what we do.” Viewers of the vlog already know that from seeing JoJo’s frequent lack of planning.
They find the location within the terminal and there’s no waiting. The test uses a nasal swab and Jete gets his calmly. JoJo cringes and grimaces as the swab penetrates his nasal passageway. He tears up, but says there will be even more tears if the test comes back positive.
While waiting, JoJo. suggests they get a drink. Jete points out to viewers that it’s normally JoJo’s idea to drink. Viewers will appreciate how often JoJo has the idea to drink. While sitting at a bar, they get the notification that results are posted. JoJo tries to tease the result, but just goes ahead and states that it’s negative. They go back to the health center and get the required certificate.
