JoJo’s World: Minion Cafe

In this vlog, JoJo and Krista visit the new Minion Cafe at Universal Studios and try all the menu items.

JoJo starts off the vlog presumably where his girlfriend Krista lives, and looks out from there at the nearby construction work for Epic Universe. He shows the view of what he can see but admits, “I don’t know what this all is, but all I know is that it’s starting to get built.” He actually asks viewers to explain to him in the comments what he’s showing in his vlog. This includes asking viewers to confirm that a building under construction (that could only be a hotel based on its appearance) is in fact a hotel. JoJo is amazed by the sight of a new theme park being built and how big it will be, saying, “Wow, there is so much construction going on here.”

JoJo then heads to Universal Orlando Resort with Krista, starting off at the Universal Studios Store at CityWalk. Inside the store, JoJo remarks on how much “random” merchandise the store has. It throws him off seeing Marvel merchandise there for sale.

JoJo looks at a display of Marvel cutie plushes and asks Krista which is her favorite. She tells him, “I kind of like baby Deadpool.” JoJo agrees with her choice. They also check out an Alligator Loki plush, and JoJo is surprised to see it. “That’s nuts that they sell that here.”

Next, they visit the new Minion Land. JoJo admits he’s not the biggest fan of the Minions, having only seen the first movie and part of the second one.

JoJo and Krista discuss the new ride, Villain-Con Minion Blast. He explains to her that it’s a moving shooter game, but since he doesn’t know the details of the movie, he says, “I will definitely watch this movie in full before this ride comes out just so I could really give you guys the full review.”

On the way to Minion Cafe, JoJo mentions a bakery called Bake My Day. Krista expresses interest in stopping there, but JoJo tells her they can’t because they are going to Minion Cafe to eat. She asks if they can come back later, and also expresses interest in the snacks from Freeze Ray Pops.

They discuss the “Bank of Evil” in Minion Land, speculating whether it’s a bank for evil people, or a regular bank that steals people’s money. JoJo then visit the Jurassic Park 30th anniversary tribute store at its new location, where he looks at various merchandise and the store’s themed rooms.

Finally, they arrive at the Minion Cafe. Krista is taken aback by the transformation of the place, saying, “It looks nothing like it used to. To my brain this is still Monster’s Café. So I’m kind of like, my brain, it’s like malfunctioning a little bit.”

JoJo says that there are 16 things on the menu and he will order all of them. Since Krista is a vegetarian, she will only eat what she can.

They try two drinks first, the PX-41 Punch and The Antidote. Krista prefers the PX-41 Punch, saying it tastes like acai. JoJo, on the other hand, finds both drinks really good. He exclaims, “My mouth is exploding with flavors right now.”

The first dish they try is the Honeymoon Soup, a green tomato soup with crispy pork belly, tomato gummy bear, and basil oil. JoJo’s initial reaction is positive, rating it an 8 out of 10 and noting its rich flavor.

Next, they try Mel’s Meatball Mountain, a stuffed pizza with meatballs. JoJo says that it doesn’t taste like traditional pizza but is still enjoyable. He also likes Uncle Dru’s Pork Sandwich, which he describes as sweet and reminiscent of honey ham.

Continuing their food adventure, JoJo tries Lucy’s Top Secret Salmon, Carl’s Crispy Cauliflower, and El Macho’s Salsa y Salsa Ropa Vieja. JoJo finds the salmon dish to be pretty good for theme park food, but the cauliflower isn’t as good to him as the cauliflower at Space 220. The braised beef reminds him of Campbell’s Chunky Soup, but not in a bad way.

JoJo then tries Kevin’s Chopa Chopa Salad and Chicken Stuart’s Szechuan Surprise. The salad is described as a traditional salad, nothing too crazy, while the chicken dish is praised for it being well-seasoned rotisserie chicken with a unique, almost sweet flavor.

In between the main dishes, JoJo snacks on Green Banana Chips, which he finds flavorful. “Why is everything good right now? Everything has flavor,” he exclaims, enjoying the quality of the food at the Minion Cafe.

After the main dishes, they move on to the desserts. JoJo tries the Fluffy Unicorn Cupcake, Minion Swiss Roll, Bob’s Teddy Bear Chocolate Cream Puff, and Otto’s Pet Rock. JoJo finds the chocolate cream puff to be his favorite, followed by the Minion Swiss Roll. He says the cupcake is just a basic cupcake and the pet rock is too much peanut butter.

Throughout the food review, JoJo and Krista also comment on the decor and the music at the Minion Cafe. JoJo notes that they play all of the Despicable Me and Minions music from the movies, adding to the overall atmosphere of the cafe.

In conclusion of the review, JoJo’s favorites are the pork sandwich, the Honeymoon Soup, and Mel’s Meatball Mountain. He says, “If I was gonna pick my favorite, I’m gonna go with the pork sandwich. That is, in my opinion, the best food item here. The amount of flavor in each bite is insane.”

JoJo concludes the vlog by summarizing their day and expressing his satisfaction with the food at the Minion Cafe. He says, “For it being theme park food, it is very good theme park food. I’ll be back here real soon.”

[4.5/5]  A good food review of the new Minion Cafe at Universal Studios. Could be better if he didn’t include the unrelated material at the beginning of the vlog.
