JoJo’s dad, Noel Crichton, is visiting JoJo in Florida while on a business trip. JoJo plans to take his dad to Hollywood Studios to distract him from yelling at JoJo “about some bills I haven’t paid over the last five years of my life.”
JoJo makes his dad put JoJo’s Santorini jacket over his head for the entire drive to the park to keep the location a surprise. Once they get there, Noel is excited, but it’s really because he gets to be somewhere with his son. Noel makes the point of saying, “I’m with my son for the first time in six months. I’m sure all the parents on your vlog will say, ‘Jonathan, how can you go six months without seeing your dad?’”
As they walk from the parking lot. JoJo tells his dad that he made them a park reservation in advance. Noel, knowing how unusual that is, replies, “You actually thought ahead.” JoJo asks his dad if he recognizes the park’s Skyliner transportation system, mentioning it’s what mom Diane cried on.
When entering the park, JoJo expresses his pride for paying for his dad’s admission. He says, “Here you go, that here is your ticket into Walt Disney World, given to you by your son.”
JoJo reminds his dad of a time when they were in the park when JoJo was a kid and he wanted to meet Mickey Mouse. Noel took him to The Great Movie Ride, thinking Mickey would be there. When there was no Mickey to meeting in the Chinese Theater, JoJo said he freaked out. Noel agreed, saying JoJo was freaking out “as usual”. Vlog viewers get to see JoJo freaking out on occasion, such as when he recently got caught breaking the rules at Universal.
The pair’s first stop is Baseline Tap House, a favorite spot of JoJo’s. JoJo gets Noel a flight of beers and a charcuterie board. While eating, JoJo candidly admits “Like, I know I’m weird. When I see you being weird, I’m like, oh, that’s where I got it from.” JoJo asks his dad to rate the place and Noel gives it an 8 out of 10. JoJo says he would have been offended if his dad rated it any lower.
Afterward, they explore Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. At Oga’s Cantina, JoJo orders them a Fuzzy Tauntaun and a Bespin Fizz and because he paid for it, pushes his dad to say “thank you”. JoJo is clearly getting off getting his father to acknowledge that JoJo is paying back some of all that his dad has done for him. However, his dad made it clear to JoJo earlier, saying truthfully, “Oh no, you’re not going to live long enough to pay me back.”
Before they leave Galaxy’s Edge, Noel gets a photo with a Stormtrooper. JoJo seems more excited about it than Noel, who jokingly says, “I met the Stormtrooper. My life is complete.”
They do a walkthrough of Toy Story Land and then go to Sunset Boulevard. There they do a meet and greet with Mary Poppins, followed by an attempt to ride the Tower of Terror. After waiting in the attraction’s queue for a while, JoJo learns that only half of the ride’s elevators are currently operating. Noel agrees to abort the mission, saying, “There must be a better way of utilizing my precious time, whatever I have left on this planet.” Instead they go to Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, which understandably has a short wait time.
They leave the park and go to Disney Springs for dinner. They eat at Paddlefish, where JoJo has dined with his dad before. Noel orders pork chops and JoJo has a plate of oysters and some crab. As JoJo cracks open his crab, Noel shares some wisdom using crab as a metaphor: “When you get something that’s good, you have to work at it.”
They cap off the father-son outing on a positive note, planning to reunite again soon.
[5/5] It’s always interesting to have JoJo’s dad, Noel, on the vlog. It provides some insight into their relationship and how JoJo became who he is.
