JoJo’s World: Flower & Garden 2023

JoJo Crichton at Epcot's Flower and Garden Festival

It’s the same day that the Mandalorian vlog was made, and now JoJo is at Epcot for the first day of the International Flower & Garden Festival. Near the entrance, JoJo admires the new Encanto set of topiaries, and says that the topiaries are one of his favorite things about the festival.

JoJo runs into fellow vlogger Nate (Paging Mr. Morrow). Nate shows his purchase of a trippy sippy Orange Bird holding an orange sippy. Regarding the festival food, Nate advises JoJo to try the strawberry shortcake.

JoJo says he is going to try as much food as he can. First up is a “char-grilled bison rib-eye” at Farmers Feast. JoJo says, “That’s actually delicious. I was worried it’s gonna be more like roast beef, but no, that tastes very close to actual steak.”

Next, JoJo goes to The Citrus Blossom, which is inside the Odyssey building this year. “I don’t care for the Orange Bird too much,” he says.

JoJo meets up with Krista by the Jardin de Fiestas booth. She wants a tostada, but they don’t have one on the menu. Instead, they go to the Norway pavilion and look at the troll topiary.

In China, at Lotus House, Krista can’t have the chicken skewers the crab wontons, or the pan-fried vegetable dumplings, since she’s vegetarian and she doesn’t know what a dumpling is. They walk on. JoJo says he does know what a dumpling is, but doesn’t know how to explain it to Krista. Krista claims she knows what a dumpling is, but she’s never had one before and doesn’t know what it tastes like. She mentions that she has seen the Pixar short Bao, to show she knows what a dumpling is.

They run into a friend, Sage, who previously appeared in a vlog as crew member Sammie on the Galactic Star Cruiser. JoJo asks him what his favorite foods at the festival have been. He says he liked the Taco Vampiro at Jardin de Fiestas booth. JoJo tells Krista, “Maybe we should have eaten there.” Krista, irritated, reminds him that she couldn’t eat there because she’s vegetarian. Sage asks her if she can “do the potato leek soup”. She responds in a tone that lets him know that he could have figured it out himself: “Does it have meat in it?” He says no, and she tells him, “Then yes, I can do it.” There seemed to be an implied “Dumbass!” at the end of the sentence.

They go on to the Germany pavilion and see a food stand with potato pancakes. Krista thinks they are like hash browns. Since they have apple sauce on them, it throws her off and they skip it. They take the opportunity to look at the Snow White topiary and Krista notes that she has never seen the movie.

In the Italy pavilion, at Primavera Kitchen, JoJo asks Krista if she sees anything she wants. Krista hesitates, saying she doesn’t know what the tortelloni is, specifically the pancetta in it. She decides it’s meat, so they leave, but Krista is still unsure so she looks it up on her phone. “I needed to fact check myself, cause I didn’t want to look stupid,” she explains.

At the American pavilion, they look at the new Tiana topiary. JoJo gives it a 9 out of 10.

Krista finds nothing she can eat at Magnolia Terrace at the American pavilion. She declines the Japanese offerings too and notes that she’s “almost out of world.” In Morocco, Krista sees that Tangerine cafe has a hummus trio and they get that. However, she ends up liking only two out of the three. At least it makes JoJo feel better. “Whew, she got food everybody,” he says with some satisfaction.

For dessert, Krista gets the Coconut Tres Leches from La Isla Fresca. She doesn’t like it because it’s too “mushy”, giving it a -2 out of 10. “I’m a very picky eater,” she says.

Later, they go in the perfume store in France, look at the English tea garden, and view more topiaries around the rest of World Showcase.

Near the end, they go to one more food booth, Florida Fresh, where they get street corn on the cob, strawberry shortcake and watermelon salad. At last, Krista is happy with the food. Meanwhile, JoJo enjoys the strawberry shortcake with the fireworks going off behind him. “That’s how I feel right now. That’s how my tastebuds feel,” he says. They both choose the street corn on the cob as their favorite food of the day.

[3/5]  If nothing else, the vlog shows how strict Krista is with her dietary restrictions. As a vlog about Flower and Garden Festival, it’s really not satisfactory, as they bounce around looking at menus but not trying stuff.
