JoJo’s World: First Date Advice

JoJo claims he helped create three marriages and at least two “going steady” relationships, so now he is ready to give some of his “amazing advice” on dating at Disney World.

Interspersed throughout this vlog are vertical video clips of JoJo handing out flowers to cast members, character performers, and guests, obviously intended as content for JoJo’s YouTube Shorts, Instagram and TikTok. Like many times before, he puts the CMs and performers in an awkward position, especially the character performers. He’s been called out before for this behavior but since the only thing that matters in “JoJo’s World” is JoJo, he’s not concerned about other people.

“JoJo’s World” is more than a YouTube channel title, it’s a statement by someone in this case who is very self-centered. Charity and doing nice things are good, but if done only for creating content and for appearances’ sake, that’s not good. It’s clear from the beginning that JoJo wants to cultivate an image of his online “JoJo” persona being a good person. Giveaways play into that. However, fans should keep in mind that it’s a manufactured image, one that doesn’t hold up well if you pay attention to all his negative actions and attributes and don’t give him a pass for all of it.

JoJo’s first piece of advice is that people shouldn’t have a first date at Disney World. He says it would be too “intense”, and since the cost of admission is a lot, it’s too much of a commitment. It’s not flexible like a coffee date that you can end easily or make last longer.

In summary:

“I mean, don’t get me wrong, it could go great. It has for many people that I know personally. But I would just say, don’t do a first date at Walt Disney World.”

~ JoJo

However, he says he is going to show four great date spots that are low commitment, drawing on his own experience and the experience of others. His first spot is his favorite bar on property, Baseline Tap House at Hollywood Studios. He extols the drinks, the music, the vibe, and the food. He says he always gets the big pretzel. It’s big and you can share it. “It’s just a solid spot to hang out with friends, family, or that special someone.”

In the outside seating area, JoJo strangely taps on the shoulder of a guy who is with a girl and offers the flower to the guy, saying, “Here you go.” JoJo then immediately moves his hand and the flower to the girl, telling her “Happy Valentine’s Day.” He then tells them he has only one flower so they can share it. Odd.

Another tip JoJo gives is not to go on rides on a first date. He says in a long line you’ll run out of things to say. Only ride if it’s a walk-on or you have a Lightning Lane. He adds “or anything where you can skip the line.” We’ve seen on his vlogs how he uses cast members to “make magic” for him to get him in the fast lane while regular guests have to wait in line.

JoJo recommends Muppets 3-D as a good attraction to go on. He says it’s because it has AC, the line is usually not long, and it provides an opportunity to focus on something else besides each other.

Another tip is not to go to PizzeRizzo or any quick service location. JoJo says that the food might be good, but there’s always going to be long lines, screaming kids, and crying babies, and it will be hard to have a conversation. If the lines are long and you don’t want to eat or drink, JoJo suggests going around the park and taking fun photos.

The point of it all:

“The idea is always have fun, even though you’re not necessarily doing anything important.”

~ JoJo

Other places JoJo recommends at Hollywood Studios are Sci-Fi Dine-in Theater (“I feel like it’s a little too much for a first date, but it could be really fun.”), Brown Derby (“They actually have an outdoor seating area, which is separate from the restaurant. If you can get a seat here, it’s great because you can get a full menu and drinks. A solid spot for a date.”), and entertainment shows like Beauty and the Beast and Fantasmic.

Next JoJo goes to Animal Kingdom for more recommendations. JoJo reminds viewers that on last Valentine’s Day, he went to Tiffins for a solo date. He also shows a favorite place, Nomad Lounge, which is the second in his list of four date spots. JoJo says it’s such a relaxing place that he has almost fallen asleep there (which may say something about his dates). He loves the variety of drinks and the food. Plus, there’s the opportunity to write a message on a card and have it hung over the bar. He says the best part is the outside area, describing it as beautiful and a place where you can see characters float by on the river. “You have to go there on your first date. It will impress anybody.”

Three other recommended places in Animal Kingdom are Pongu Pongu beverage stand, Satu’li Canteen, and Fossil Fun Games. However, the third date spot on his list is the walk-up bar at Yak and Yeti, where he went with Swoozie. He likes that the restaurant’s full menu is available.

JoJo returns to Hollywood Studios, to Oga’s Cantina, for the fourth date spot on his list. He says even if you are not a Star Wars fan, you’ll be impressed with the lights, music, and entertainment. Besides the cool drinks and the bartenders from a different planet, “If you’re really lucky, you actually might run into some Stormtroopers making sure that no Jedis are hiding out in the bar. It’s just such a unique place.”

JoJo ends the video with very awkward interactions with Chewbacca, Rey and Vi, giving the character performers flowers and expecting them to provide him content.

[4/5]  The vlog provides some good dating advice for Disney World that could come in handy. JoJo seems knowledgeable about good date spots around the parks. Even with the overplayed flower giveaway inserted in the vlog, viewers can still gain worthwhile tips.
