JoJo’s World: Ferrari World

JoJo announces that he and his friend Jake are going to Ferrari World, a theme park in Abu Dhabi. “It’s literally a theme park revolved around the car Ferrari and apparently it’s going to be a lot of fun, a lot of cool rides,” he says. The park is known for having the world’s fastest roller coaster, Formula Rossa, which reaches speeds of up to 150 mph.

They enter the park which has its entranceway located at The Fountains at Yas Mall. Looking around, they of course see cars on display. JoJo talks to team members who recommend four top rides, though JoJo doesn’t specify what they are.

They walk by Formula Rossa ride, and although there’s no line at the moment, JoJo decides to save it for last. They go on a ride called Viaggio in Italia, which is similar to the Soarin’ ride at Disney parks. The ride shows scenes of the Italian countryside; however. Jake comments, “That was questionable. It wasn’t even, like, they didn’t even fly over, like, the major parts of Italy. It was weird. They were showing, like, countryside, but the Ferraris were just driving along the countryside the whole time, like, they didn’t show, like, actual authentic Italy.”

The pair learn about a paid driving experience where visitors can drive a real Ferrari for $300, but it requires an International Drivers License, which they don’t have. They explore gift shops with Ferrari merchandise. Jake tries the Ferrari F430 GT simulator on the Scuderia Challenge for around $15. The simulator makes him feel queasy, and he crashes into a wall while simulating racing at 220 mph.

JoJo and Jake ride Turbo Track, a launch coaster with a fast takeoff and descent. JoJo likes the feeling of being suspended in the air before the ride comes back down. They also ride Flying Aces, a roller coaster with big loops and elaborate theming. The ride takes them outside, where the humidity is so intense that it makes the floor wet. JoJo remarks, “I just feel like this ride was just intense like the whole time.”

The two stop to eat at Officers Food Quarters and share some chicken wings, which they note look more like chicken tenders. They try the Peri Peri sauce, and JoJo comments, “a nice amount of spice but like almost to the point that’s not even spicy.”

They go on the Made in Maranello ride, which shows how Ferraris are designed and built. Jake expects it to be like Test Track at Epcot, but they find it’s actually slow. They ride the Fiorano GT Challenge, a dueling racing coaster, and Jake describes it as having “a lot of back and forth, swerving, like you’re driving, like actually, so it made it feel like you were in the… and it was a cute ride, because you’re actually sitting in the Ferrari Spider car, so it was cute.”

JoJo admires a mural showing people from around the world having fun together, commenting, “It’s very inclusive. Lots of different people from around the world, all having fun together.” They go on the Speed of Magic 4D dark ride, where the character Nello steals the keys to their dad’s Ferrari, and they have to beat him in a race to get the car back. Jake says it’s the worst ride he has been on, worse than Figment, and adds, “I hated that ride so much.”

They look at several kiddie rides but don’t go on them. They ride the Mission Ferrari roller coaster and almost didn’t ride it, but are glad they did. The ride features backward motion, upside-down sections, drops, and sideways movement. Jake raves, “I think that was one of the best rides in the entire world.”

They finally ride the Formula Rossa roller coaster, which goes 150 mph and requires riders to wear goggles. Afterward, Jake says he can’t feel his face. JoJo mentions that he couldn’t breathe at times because he was screaming so much.

In review, JoJo says, “This park is dope. It’s awesome. I like it.” Jake adds, “This was definitely worth the visit.” JoJo’s favorite ride is Mission Ferrari, with Formula Rossa as the runner-up.
