JoJo’s World: Disney Updates 2024

For this vlog, JoJo goes to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. At the park, he talks about Disney news and park updates planned for 2024. He also explains the importance of new things at Disney for him personally, how it’s what provides him the ability to make new Disney related content.

JoJo first comments on the long wait times across the park that evening. “Right now, it is so crowded. I was not expecting this, but it’s because everyone from the holidays are still here,” he explains.  He suggests that from January 17th to the 25th would be a better time to come, since the people who came for the holidays will be gone and there’s nothing else going on.

Turning to the Disney news, JoJo talks about Tiana’s Bayou Adventure as being the biggest update for the parks in 2024. JoJo is looking forward to it opening, but he’s still concerned that Dr. Facilier won’t be part of the attraction, since “you know, he’s kind of dead at the end of the movie.”

Another update is that Star Tours will get new stories in 2024, including one with Ahsoka Tano. She’s one of JoJo favorite characters and he laments that she only meets guests at Disneyland, not Walt Disney World. “I’m jealous. I’m jealous, okay, I admit it,” he says.

Outside the Voyage of The Little Mermaid theater, closed since 2020, JoJo reports that it will reopen with an updated story. JoJo looks forward to it, recalling childhood memories of seeing the original show. His sister “always wanted to go to this show even though I hated it.” However, when they were older, after seeing the show again, JoJo’s sister “was like, ‘uh, it’s not as good as I remember.’”

JoJo then comments on the start of all-day park hopping and return of the Disney Dining Plan, which he learned about from his Patreon members. “I never really got to experience the Dining Plan,” admits JoJo. He wants to try it in 2024 to review for fans.

Another show, the Country Bear Jamboree in Magic Kingdom is updating all of its songs in 2024. JoJo states the songs are “kind of old and at some points they’re a little bit inappropriate.” He likes the current music and says, “I wish it could stay.” JoJo suggests that for special events, Disney could “bring back the old music, cause Disney loves to bring back old stuff when people miss it.” He’s still excited for the update, though he feels a tinge of nostalgia for the original show.

JoJo’s Opinion:

“Now, my personal opinion that no one asked for. If they bring more entertainment, I think that would be really cool. Like, maybe new shows, new parades, new popup areas. Like the Citizens of Hollywood was really cool. Have characters roam more.”

While mainly discussing Walt Disney World, JoJo mentions a new development at Tokyo Disney Resort. In summer 2024, Tokyo DisneySea opens the Fantasy Springs area. It includes new lands themed to Frozen, Tangled, and Peter Pan. Set to open on June 6th, JoJo eagerly states “I’m going to try my best to be there day opening. Like that is something to get excited about.” He contrasts the ambitious Tokyo expansion plans with the relatively modest 2024 additions at Walt Disney World, musing “I’m hoping sometime, sooner than later, I get to get excited like that for something in Walt Disney World.”

About something a little closer to home, JoJo expresses excitement for the company’s new Disney cruise ship Treasure debuting in 2024. JoJo eagerly anticipates the ship for several reasons – his love of cruising, anything new from Disney, and the fact that Aladdin is the ships’ main character. The ship will visit Disney’s new location in the Bahamas, which he thinks will be really cool. JoJo says he won’t be on the inaugural voyage because it’s too expensive.

JoJo mentions that Epcot will see updates in 2024, including the opening of Communicore Plaza and Hall. It will provide additional space for festivals.

JoJo also talks about things that aren’t being updated, but should be. For example, he expresses a desire for a new menu and new drink selections at Oga’s Cantina. In general, to give park guests something to look forward to, JoJo ponders, “How can you get someone who doesn’t like the Disney IP, Disney movies, to come to Disney park? Get an awesome ride that people love to talk about, make a crazy show, get drones, you know, in the sky.”

One more thing he notes: the Fort Wilderness cabins will get a modern upgrade starting in summer 2024. JoJo has fond memories there, saying it felt like “old Disney” with a “rural” vibe. He’ll miss the original cabins.

As he concludes, JoJo remarks, “Don’t get me wrong. There’s like, there’s things happening in all the other parks, but the one thing that’s been happening time and time again is that nothing new is coming to Disney [World]. Nothing that gets people jazzed or excited – but I think Disney’s going to be fine.”
