JoJo’s World: Disney Adults

JoJo starts his vlog by stating that the theme is “What is a Disney Adult?”. He shows the many Disney-related items in his home, making the case that he is a Disney adult.

JoJo heads to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and begins asking guests, “What do you think a Disney adult is, or what’s your perception of a Disney adult? Have you heard of that term before?” He receives a wide variety of responses from both park guests and cast members.

As JoJo browses new merchandise, he remarks, “One thing I know for a fact is that Disney adults love merchandise and will buy tons of it.” He eyes some items like Mickey ears and a Greedo chalice that he wants to purchase for himself as a Disney Adult.

He meets up with his friend Farris, who states that while he visits the parks frequently, he does not consider himself a true Disney Adult. According to Farris, Disney adults are obsessed with Disney, which does not describe him. Instead, Farris labels himself as more of a “Disney drinker.”

JoJo visits Baseline Tap House, nostalgically calling it a homecoming for him, since he misses it when he’s away. He shares that his favorite drink there used to be the blood orange cider. After drinking it too often, he no longer orders it.

At Baseline Tap House, JoJo asks his friend Matthew about Disney adults. Matthew defines Disney Adults as those who make Disney their entire life. Because of his job working on theme parks, he considers theme parks in general to be his life, but not just Disney’s.

Later in Galaxy’s Edge, JoJo painfully puts cast members on the spot by asking their thoughts on Disney adults, even though they are in character as people on Batuu.

Over in Toy Story Land, JoJo mentions his friend Farris used to work at Toy Story Mania. Farris adds that he first met JoJo there when mutual friend Emily Nelson introduced Farris to JoJo.

They ride Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railroad, and then JoJo asks his friends, “Do you think Disney himself was a Disney adult?”. The answer is yes, and Walt is labeled as “patient zero”.

Next, the group debates riding Tower of Terror or seeing the Fantasmic show. They find Tower of Terror closed, so they opt for Fantasmic. Farris had wanted to do Tower of Terror, but after Fantasmic, he says the music made him realize he’s a little more of a Disney adult than he thought.

In an unsurprising conclusion of the vlog, JoJo labels himself a Disney adult. Possibly under the influence, he declares, “Hey, we’re just people who love something.”

Some responses JoJo received in the park during this analysis of Disney adults include:

  • “I think it’s positive for me.”
  • “Someone that takes it too far.”
  • “One word: cringe. I don’t know . . . they have a love and a passion that’s just far too great for all of us.”
  • “I would say my definition of a Disney adult would be coming out, enjoying the drinks at Epcot, doing whatever you want.”
  • “I mean to me it’s someone who comes to Disney as an adult, probably a lot, and they know like tons and tons about the park.”
  • “I think it’s just people who love the parks, you know, regardless of your age. I mean, it’s a special place. It’s to be like a child forever.
