JoJo’s World: Comparing Tokyo DL to MK

JoJo does a comparison between Tokyo Disneyland and Magic Kingdom while exploring the former. He says that when he was planning his trip to Tokyo Disneyland (TDL), the number one thing people told him was that TDL is exactly like Magic Kingdom. In this video he discusses things he sees as the same or similar, and which things are different.

This vlog is a continuation of JoJo’s first day at Tokyo Disneyland.

In Tomorrowland, JoJo says the Stitch Encounter attraction is in the same place as the Stitch attraction was in Magic Kingdom. He says it’s like Turtle Talk with Crush in Epcot, but “the unfortunate part is that it’s in Japanese.” JoJo has no idea what Stitch is saying and all the jokes go right over his head. He says it was fun to experience anyway.

Regarding food at the park, JoJo say that if you’re a Disney foodie, you’re going to want to go to TDL. He says the snacks are so different and creative. He mentions curry popcorn and little alien dumplings.

JoJo shows himself trying the dumplings. There are three varieties, chocolate, strawberry and vanilla. He admits that he thought that they were going to be actual dumplings. JoJo says it was a little bit of a letdown, finding out that they were actually treats. He thinks they are actually pretty good though.

Star tours is exactly the same, JoJo says, but he refuses to go on any Star Tours outside of Hollywood studios.

Exploring the World Bazaar, JoJo likes how it’s not Main Street. He shows a magic shop and the “Great American Waffle Company”. He shows a long line outside the latter and says, “A long line in Tokyo means a long line for good food.”

In Adventureland, JoJo shows that the Pirates of the Caribbean is closed and that the area around it is very similar to New Orleans Square. He points out the train, which only runs in Adventureland (and Critter Country) and that right under it is the Jungle Cruise. JoJo says it’s weird placement, but he likes it because it’s different. He mentions that TDL doesn’t have a Polynesian resort, but does have a Polynesian restaurant.

Also in Adventureland is an Enchanted Tiki Birds attraction, but this one includes Stitch. JoJo gives props to TDL for having two attractions that are themed around Stitch. He says he doesn’t like the Tiki Birds version in MK, but this one is really fun. JoJo and Jete go inside to see the show and JoJo ask Jete if he has seen it before. Jete reminds him that he’s terrified of birds. “True. Great choice, JoJo,” JoJo says to himself. JoJo recounts how the show includes a large Stitch animatronic and the song Hawaiian Roller Coaster. He thinks the show is a vibe and probably one of the top five experiences for him at TDL (because of Stitch).

They watch another parade. It’s a parade themed for a Valentine’s Day event. The plot is Mickey wants to show Minnie how much everyone loves her. JoJo is enthralled by cast members teaching guests a dance before the parade. JoJo likes anything that has its own dance.

In Westernland, JoJo shows there’s a Country Bear Jamboree and a shooting gallery. He’s surprised to see a line at the shooting gallery. Also, there’s a steamboat and real canoeing. Next is another land, Critter Country, which JoJo explains is a land themed around Splash Mountain. The attraction is currently closed for maintenance.

In Fantasyland, JoJo says it has the same rides with just different placement. He shows Dumbo, Haunted Mansion, Peter Pan’s Flight and It’s A Small World.

They go to Toontown. JoJo says it seems almost exactly the same as Disneyland, although larger. JoJo reflects on its existence: “Come to think of it, this is like one of the last OG Toontown. So they just made the big change at the Toontown in Disneyland, there’s no more Toontown in Disney World.” He asks Gabby, who has joined them at TDL, “They have a Toontown in Paris, you said?” She replies, “I have no clue.” Gabby seems tired of being JoJo’s tour guide and maybe tired of JoJo in general.

Enchanted Tale review:

“That is like what Disney’s all about. Just, as an adult, being able to ride something and be like, ‘How did they do that?’ As you get older, you don’t get surprised or wooed by things, so if I get that feeling, that’s priceless, like, trip totally worth it. Love that ride. The transformation… oh my god!”

They go on the big ride of the day, Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast. JoJo loves all the sights in the queue and says the preshow is one of the best he has ever seen. During the ride, he shows the various scenes. At first he just mutters softly during the ride, but in the ballroom scene he obnoxiously starts singing along with the music, contrary to his previous statements that he is respectful of other guests. After the ride, Jete gives a quick reaction, “I just peaked. My life is never going to get better than that.” JoJo says that the ride in the top 3 of all attractions for him. Also, he felt sad as the ride ended because he wants to live in that world.

After that, there is one more thrill for the evening. JoJo shows the Baymax attraction, which at first, he didn’t care about doing since it’s like Alien Swirling Saucers. Then he sees cast members doing a dance during the ride and he loves it. “This is my type of people!” he exclaimed. He wants to personally bring that vibe to Saucers at WDW.

JoJo says they are not done for the night but he’s ending the this vlog due to length. As a recap, he says even without the evident differences in the parks, what would still make them different is the culture. The people who go to TDL are very different than at MK.
