JoJo’s World: A Day and Night at Mykonos

This is the sixth in JoJo’s vlog series about traveling to Greece and going on the “MerMaiden” voyage of Virgin Voyages’ Resilient Lady. The cruise is for seven nights and is called the “Greek Island Glow” cruise.

In their stateroom on the Resilient Lady, JoJo announces that he and Jete are at Mykonos and the ship will be there overnight. That’s something that JoJo hasn’t experienced on a cruise before.

They arrive in Mykonos by tender boat, and it’s around 67 degrees and very windy. “We’re going to eat, maybe shop a little bit, who knows? Go to a beach club?” JoJo says excitedly.

One of the first things they do is stop to eat at a waterfront restaurant. “What a gorgeous view, and I’m not just talking about Jete, man, I’m talking about the water,” JoJo says as he admires the scenery. JoJo ends up getting two meals at the restaurant, lamb and mussels, so he must have been pretty hungry.

They start exploring, and JoJo has to make a stop at a small bar, Café Vero, to get more alcohol. With their drinks in hand, they sit on the bar’s rooftop terrace and take in the view. Jete says, “Who would have thought anything else? We’re on a rooftop garden. We’re in Europe. We’re in Mykonos, baby, and we got some drinks!”

After that, Jete leads them on a rough path to get to a higher point to get a view of the port and their ship. JoJo loves having taken the path to experience the view, saying, “The world needs to be explored or something. I don’t remember the quote.”

They descend to a taxi stop and hear where some other people are going, which includes a beach club called “Scorpios”. Previously, when they were on the tender boat, some people told them they were going to Paradise Beach Club. JoJo says, “It’s got a lot of good ratings and honestly seems good for content. I can show you guys, if you guys are ever coming to Mykonos, this might be the spot to go.”

JoJo and Jete end up taking a taxi to Paradise Beach Club. At the club, they feel overdressed and go to the club’s store to get short shorts to wear. Jete tries on some shorts and JoJo admires how he looks, saying, “Looking good, and to anyone who is commenting about Jete’s short shorts, let the man live, okay. We all like to do our own thing!”

JoJo seizes the moment to buy some short shorts for himself as well. “I’ve joined the short shorts gang for the day!” JoJo says excitedly. “I don’t have as nice legs as him, but it’s okay. You’re in Greece once,” JoJo says, being unnecessarily self-deprecating.

In the heart of the action at the club, JoJo and Jete drink and dance for about three hours. Then they leave the club to go back to the ship to drop off their stuff, recharge, and meet up with their friend J.

They take a bus back to Mykonos Town, where they get a little lost walking in the town’s maze of streets. However, JoJo is confident they’ll find their way and they eventually end up in the iconic Little Venice area of Mykonos. They decide to have dinner there and they find another scenic waterfront restaurant to dine at. They enjoy the view of the sunset on the water, as well as their meals of mussels and swordfish.

After eating, they enjoy walking around the town at night to feel the vibe when it’s lit up. They then take the tender back to the ship and meet up with J, so that they can return to Mykonos together to go to Cosma club and Skandinavian Bar.

The next morning, JoJo tells how he and Jete got separated that night and JoJo had returned to the ship but Jete wasn’t there yet. Jete doesn’t want to talk about it, saying, “It’s not for the camera.”

[5/5]  Foreign travel on JoJo’s channel is always interesting and is going to be worth watching. This vlog provides a good feel for what Mykonos Town and a beach club are like, and shows what a visitor can do without a planned excursion. However, other travelers may not have the good fortune that JoJo always seems to have, like apparently lucking into finding the Little Venice area of the city without planning to go there.
